The term Trojan as applied to USC means to me that no matter what the situation, what the odds or what the conditions, the competition must be carried on to the end and those who strive must give all they have and never be weary in doing so.

We expect perfection from ourselves and from others

I say we do our best to enjoy this precious life we have.  Avoid life threatening mistakes, but don’t fret over the small things.

This Is Just Great of the Day: Appearing in the latest Target circular is 6-year-old Ryan: A happy, gregarious, photogenic rising star in the world of child modeling — who happens to have Down syndrome.
Ryan has also appeared in a recent Nordstrom catalog among other clothing ads.
On the Daddyblog of a father whose child also has Down syndrome, Ryan’s mother writes:

The whole process of modeling is an extreme confidance booster for him. He received so much warmth and caring from the Nordstrom crew that he thought they were there just for him! We are honored that Ryan is making the Down syndrome community proud. He is a beautiful boy inside and out. He makes us better parents, and a better family.

Before and After. Love her always!

Rap Songs

After a long car ride, I came to the conclusion that rap songs are either about how great and wonderful and rich the rapper is, or how women are just a piece of ass that have no capabilities of changing the world.

No matter how silly/rude/demeaning these songs are, I still love to listen to them and often find myself learning the lyrics, even the ones the should offend me.

What a Year for a New Year

2011 summed up in the moments that mattered most for me

January: Starting my minor

With the new semester starting, this also meant I was starting my Cinematic Arts minor.  I took two classes for the minor, both of which I loved and learned so much. Through starting my minor I discovered my nerdy love for post-production.

February: Sister

February was the first time I went to Sacramento to visit my sister.  I had such a wonderful time being with her.  I really do cherish every moment we spend together because sadly these moments are now few and far between.  Nothing will ever come between the two of us.  Our relationship is like no other.

March: A New Idea

I was inspired by an Orientation Conference to come up with an idea to make students more aware of the Five Traits of a Trojan and what it really means to be a part of the Trojan Family.  When I proposed this idea to my office, they were immediately on board with the project.  We started working on the idea right away, and it has grown so much since its birth.  I am so happy with where it is going and so inspired that professionals take student’s ideas seriously.

April: My Love

It was the first time in a long time I got to see someone I love very much.  We were able to spend a whole weekend together.  It’s been years since we first met and while many things have changed since then, our love for each other has not.

May: Disney

I got to spend a lot of May at one of my favorite places in the world, Disneyland.  It was a fitting month for this to occur, considering May is also my birthday month.  I did not know it then, but one of those May Disneyland trips was the last time I would see Trevor.

June: Orientation- Round 2

And then the madness began.  The madness of USC Orientation that I love.  Working for this office has created so many opportunities for me.  But most importantly, through working for Orientation I have met some amazing people that I will never forget, people that will always be in my heart.

July: Trevor

It is without a doubt that this was the hardest month of the year.  Losing Trevor was very hard for me and heartbreaking to see the people I love suffer through so much pain.  The week we lost him felt like eternity.  You get this unexplained energy and passion when your best friend needs you the most.  Its indescribable and it was a feeling I never had before.  It all made me realize how much I love my friends both at home and in Los Angeles.  And I learned to appreciate everything about them.  Life is too short to stay angry about the little things.

August: The Adventures of Regal Rita Begin

This was when I moved into our quirky little apartment known at Regal Rita #12.  It was the start of what is and will be a great time in this apartment.  I have the best roommate I could ask for.  Not only does she deal with my goofiness, she is an amazing friend that I can always count on.

September: Mosaic and Football

This was the month that I started my internship at Mosaic Media Group.  My internship taught me that while the entertainment industry is one of my passions, I could only see myself acting or doing post.  It was also the month that we had three home games, so of course that is one of the things I remember from September.

October: Contemplating

I spent a lot of this month trying to figure out what I want to do with my life.  I have a passion for acting and a passion for education, and I didn’t know what to do.  Do I pick one or try to merge them? Then I finally put my mind at rest and I think I made the right decision to stop trying to figure out the future, enjoy my time at USC and just see what happens.

November: Another New Idea

One of my classes inspired me to start a film project with two people I really enjoy working with.  When I talked to them about my idea they were immediately on board, and we have already gone so far with this project.  I am excited to see hat we do with it in 2012.

December: Family

I spent the last half of December being at home with my family.  This does not happen often anymore so it is something I look forward to and love.  I have an amazing family and I enjoy spending as much time with them as possible.

So that was 2011.  I am looking forward to finishing what I started in 2012. And of course, turning 21 will be fantastic.
